Falls: The Silent Epidemic of Our Aging Population and How the Tango Belt Redefines Safer Mobility
Wamis Singhatat, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer, ActiveProtective Technologies, joining the Summit from Fort Washington, PA
Falls are the number one cause of fatal injury in US older adults, and fall deaths continue to rise at an alarming rate. Despite the magnitude and severity of elderly falls, no standard of care currently exists for high-fall-risk individuals. ActiveProtective, an early-stage venture-backed company, has developed a truly innovative solution to this problem. The Tango Belt is the first-ever connected wearable device to enable safer mobility by intervening with airbag protection during serious hip-impacting falls. Its proprietary AI-based platform also sends automatic caregiver alerts and remotely monitors balance and function for tele-health and tele-rehab applications.
Wamis Singhatat is the Interim CEO and CTO at ActiveProtective. He is an established technology development leader with over 20 years of experience developing wearable and implantable medical devices in orthopedics and injury prevention from startups to Fortune 50 companies, including leadership roles within one of Johnson & Johnson’s largest orthopedic business units.
