On April 22nd, Cavendish hosted a brand-new, first-time conversation with Charles D. Hammerman, in his role as cofounder, President and CEO of the Disability Opportunity Fund, dedicated to advancing the needs of people with disabilities. Mr. Hammerman was joined by ShareNett Managing Director, Kilty Mahoney, to share his family’s story, the inspiration behind DOF, its direct impact and vision for the future.

Charlie Hammerman brings many years of involvement with initiatives for people with disabilities and significant experience in the financial markets. Prior to the creation of The DOF, Hammerman founded the Burton Blatt Institute at Syracuse University, an organization to advance civic, economic and social participation of persons with disabilities in a global society. In 2007 Hammerman was appointed Director of CDFI Initiatives at Syracuse University.
Hammerman was a senior member of Private Executive Services, a division of Merrill Lynch’s Global Private Client Group. He also spent 4 years with Merrill Lynch’s Equity Capital markets division and 4 years in the Office of the General Counsel. Before Merrill Lynch, he was an Assistant US Attorney in New York and began his career as an associate at Morgan Lewis and Bockius.
At Merrill Lynch, Hammerman spearheaded the creation of it’s “Disability Awareness Professional Network” in its world headquarters. As a result of his leadership, Merrill Lynch was recognized by Diversity Inc. magazine as the “number one company for employment of people with disabilities” in 2005 and 2006. Hammerman received his BA from Washington University in St. Louis and his JD from Fordham University in 1988.

Kilty has over 20 years of investment banking experience, building and expanding market sector practices at leading financial institutions including Bank of America and Salomon Brothers. She is a creative and trusted strategic and business development advisor to founders and C-suite executives across Technology, Media and Telecom, having completed tens of billions of M&A and capital transactions.
Kilty holds a BA in Economics from Mount Holyoke College and completed her MBA at Harvard Business School. She holds the Series 7 and 79 FINRA licenses.

Vijay Ravindran, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Floreo, joining the Summit from Washington, DC
Vijay Ravindran is an accomplished entrepreneur and technology executive with experience in online retail at Amazon and the news media industry for The Washington Post Company. Vijay is the founder and CEO of Floreo, a venture-backed start-up developing virtual reality learning for people with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD and anxiety.
Vijay’s career spans digital commerce and news media. He joined Amazon in 1998 when the company sold books and music. He later served as director of the ordering department at Amazon and led the team that launched Amazon Prime. As Chief Digital Officer for The Washington Post Company, he founded WaPo Labs and oversaw the development of over a dozen products in digital news and launched Washington Post Social Reader and Trove, a personalized news web application.
He is an engineering graduate of the University of Virginia and serves on the Board of The Lenfest Institute for Journalism and the Alliance for Excellent Education.
