Cavendish in Chicago
In July 2017, we hosted our first Chicago Health Impact Forum at the University Club of Chicago, together with Northwestern University, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, MATTER, iBIO and PROPEL at the iBIO Institute.
Convening over 140 attendees, consisting of hand-selected innovators from biohealth, impact investors, institutional leaders and industry experts, we showcased 14 early-stage biohealth companies, alongside an powerful lineup of provocative keynotes and panels, and hosted several hours of social programming and partnering time, resulting in 376 high-level meetings over two days.


Our Opening Keynote Speaker
Richard L. Lieber, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer and SVP, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab
Dr. Lieber’s work is characterized by its interdisciplinary nature—an approach that is relevant to those who study biomechanics and Orthopaedic Surgery. He has published over 250 articles in journals ranging from the very basic such as The Biophysical Journal and The Journal of Cell Biology to those more applied such as The Journal of Hand Surgery and Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research. Dr. Lieber’s research focuses on design and plasticity of skeletal muscle. Currently, he is developing state-of-the-art approaches to understanding muscle contractures that result from cerebral palsy, stroke and spinal cord injury.
