Since 2013, Betsy has served as Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer at AbilityLab. In this role, she oversees several key areas, including the organization’s marketing and communications, market and referral development, technology and innovation commercialization, and educational outreach. In 2017, Betsy led a rebranding that drove the 66-year-old organization’s renaming (from Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago) and move into the new $550 million, 1.2 million-square-foot research hospital.

Previously, Betsy was President and Chief Operating Officer for Farley’s & Sathers. Before that, she oversaw Sears’ Kenmore brand, with profit-and-loss responsibility for the multibillion-dollar business. Her overhaul of Kenmore’s product design, brand positioning and marketing strategy restored Kenmore to the No. 1 appliance brand based on unit and dollar sales. Prior to Sears, Betsy served as Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President at Rand McNally, the leading source for maps, navigation and travel content, where she directed strategy, marketing, brand and product development for five of the company’s businesses. Earlier in her career, she held leadership roles in both North America and Asia for SC Johnson. She also worked in brand management and sales for Gillette and Procter & Gamble.

4:30 PM - 5:00 PM | Paul Alan Cox, PhD, Executive Director, Brain Chemistry Labs

A native of Utah and Wyoming, Paul Alan Cox graduated in Botany and Philosophy from Brigham Young University. He has published over 200 scientific papers and 4 books. In 1997, TIME magazine named Cox one of 11 “Heroes of Medicine” for his work in ethnobotanical drug discovery. In the same year, he was awarded the Goldman Environmental Prize for his efforts in preserving Samoan rain forests. Cox founded and is chairman of Seacology, an environmental organization which has preserved 98,000 acres of rain forest and 1.7 million acres of coral reef on islands throughout the world. Cox is a resident of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where he is Director of the Institute for Ethnomedicine. His current ethnobotanical research is focused on neurodegenerative illness with the goal of discovering new therapies for ALS and Alzheimer’s Disease.
